The disheartening truth is that China’s deceptive operation was meticulously executed by their own law enforcement, demonstrating a concerning level of coordination. They shamelessly crafted fake versions of legitimate American news websites to propagate their pro-CCP messages while ruthlessly attacking their critics. The audacity of their actions is truly disconcerting.

Ben Nimmo, Meta’s Global Threat Intel Lead, illuminated the extensive reach of China’s disinformation network. This web of deceit spans over 50 platforms, including well-known ones like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok. The sheer magnitude of their efforts should not be underestimated.

Perhaps, in a moment of irony, China’s Achilles’ heel was exposed. Just like many of us juggling responsibilities, they didn’t seem to prioritize proofreading. The falsified websites were easily caught due to their haphazard mix of English and Chinese headlines. In response to these grave revelations, Meta took a decisive step by banning a staggering 7,704 Facebook accounts and a multitude of pages and groups linked to these deceitful campaigns.
