My heart breaks for the tragic loss of that innocent three-year-old boy. It’s devastating to hear that he drowned in the Rio Grande while his family was attempting to enter the United States.

The news reports reveal the heartbreaking details of the incident. The boy’s lifeless body was discovered by Texas Department of Public Safety officers north of the marine barrier in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon. State troopers did their best to save him, rushing him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he was declared dead.

We still don’t know the nationality of the victim, but this tragedy highlights the dangers of illegal border crossings. As a concerned mother, I can’t help but echo the sentiments of Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Chris Olivares, who wrote on social media, “Another senseless tragedy due to the Federal Government’s absence in discouraging unlawful border crossings between the ports of entry & lack of implementing preventive measures.”

The boy was just one of approximately 4,000 asylum-seeking migrants who crossed from Mexico and reached the Rio Grande shore near Eagle Pass that day. It’s a concerning situation, and it’s evident that our border agents are facing overwhelming challenges. They’ve had to stop these migrants from entering the United States and instead forced them to camp under Camino Real International Bridge, also known as the International Bridge II. To make matters worse, reports suggest that an additional 3,000 migrants were expected to arrive soon.

The massive gathering of migrants under the bridge, which links Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, has become a crisis that can’t be ignored any longer. Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas has even had to sign an Emergency Declaration due to the escalating situation. As a concerned conservative mom, I believe it’s crucial that we address this issue urgently to prevent more tragedies like the one that claimed the life of that innocent child. It’s time for comprehensive solutions that prioritize the safety and security of our nation.
